economic development
The Rubidoux Gateway Plaza consists of 28k square feet commercial retail on the corner of Mission and Crestmore. The intent is for a medium/large retail store such as a grocer and smaller retail/office units within the center. This project is expected to begin construction Summer 2022.
The Van Buren Marketplace consists of two phases on 16 acres and is located on the corner of Rutile and Van Buren. The first phase consists of a fueling station, car wash, convenience store, anchor retail building such as a grocer, and a full service restaurant. It also requires that all infrastructure be built including landscaping and roadway improvements. Phase 2 consists of a drive thru restaurant, and 4 other retail/office buildings. This project is expected to start construction Fall 2021.
The Draft EIR for the Shops at Jurupa Valley is now available for public review and comment. You can view the document here: https://www.jurupavalley.org/.../Draft-EIR-Public-Review...
The proposed project is located at the northeast corner of Mission and Pyrite. The current proposal includes a hotel, restaurants including drive-thru, general retail, general office, and more.
The comment period ends in April and will then go to the Planning Commission for public hearings.
community service
We held our first Community Cleanup of the year on February 20, 2021 and was extremely successful with over 100 volunteers!!! It was great to see so many of our residents and JUSD youth (Go #JVHS Jaguars!). We focused on areas in District 5 which included Golden West from Mission to Ave Mariposa, Crestmore from Crestmore Manor to Capary, and Limonite Frontage from Ave Juan Bautista to Limonite. Thank you to the Jurupa Lions and all the volunteers!!!
At our #WRCOG Finance and Administration meeting today we discussed the nominations for the 2021 WRCOG Award for Outstanding Community Service. I had the pleasure of nominating the Jurupa District Lions Club, the Sikh Temple in Jurupa Valley (Gurdwara Sahib Riverside), and For The People Taskforce.
There were numerous nominations for organizations, agencies, and individuals from across the county all of which who have done some excellent work over the past year.
For the category of community organization, the board formally nominated the Sikh Temple in Jurupa Valley and For The People Taskforce. For government agency we nominated RTA and for individual we nominated Grant Yates.
From here the nominations go to the Executive Committee for a final vote and then to the General Assembly in June for recognition.
infrastructure
The intersection at 45th and Golden West has been patch worked for a few years after each storm. The root cause is poor drainage that originates from the top west end of 45th coming off the hill. As of today it has been properly repaired and we are looking at improving drainage to mitigate this from occurring again.
JURUPA ROAD GRADE SEPARATION UPDATE:
Construction of the Jurupa Rd Grade Separation is scheduled to start in May and go through June of 2023. New roads are being built to connect to Van Buren as alternate routes and improvements are being made to the intersection of Galena/Rutile and Van Buren including a traffic signal at Pedley and Jurupa. #jurupavalley #infrastructure
You can see more info such as design and more here:
The City proposes to improve Mission Boulevard between Pyrite Street and Valley Way. The project consists of the grinding of the existing pavement surface, construction of a fiber reinforced leveling course and fiber reinforced ARHM overlay, construction of a pedestrian refuge area in the center island at Valley Way, traffic signal modifications at the Valley Way intersection, and re-striping through the project limits including new left turn pockets at Tyrolite Street, Sikh Temple Way and the private driveway west of Valley Way.
At our last Council Meeting we approved Mission Boulevard Phase 2 which would cover between Pyrite and Bellegrave and Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation which would include Rubidoux SR 60 to 29th, Limonite from Felspar to Pedley, Jurupa Rd from Agate to Galena, as well as some roughly 10k linear feet of reconstruction and striping in various areas.
BAIN STREET REHABILITATION:
Bain will be closed between 54th and Bellegrave to through traffic beginning 4/19 thru 5/14.
The project consists of the removal, re-grading, and reconstruction of the existing AC pavement, including new areas of PCC pavement, adding an additional four feet of paved area to provide for paved shoulders, grading beyond the paved shoulders to remedy existing drainage deficiencies, reconstruction of driveway approaches as needed, and re-striping through the project limits.
