STRINGFELLOW UPDATE

As agreed to between the City and DTSC, the toxic materials will be removed from the Stringfellow site over the coming weeks and will be completely gone by December.

I want to thank City Staff, Senator Roth, Assemblymember Cervantes, Congressman Takano, CCAEJ, and a special thanks to Penny Newman for all the work and advocacy that went into getting these materials removed from our City. I also want to thank DTSC for working with us on the effort to remove the materials. I look forward to having the containers gone from the site.

WESTERN RIVERSIDE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS

At our WRCOG Admin and Finance meeting, we received a report on the Clean Cities Coalition. Through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Funding Program (NEV), California is receiving $384 million of the $5 billion allocated nationally. Part of that funding will be coming to the Inland Empire and help fund EV infrastructure along the 15, 91, 60, and 10 freeways.

We also received and approved the first phase of our Energy Resiliency Program. I'm excited to share that Jurupa Valley will have one of the first 3 projects across the county funded. CalFire Station #17 in Glen Avon will receive investments in solar power, backup generation, and a few other upgrades to ensure the stations operation in the event of an emergency or power outage..

More to come...

FOODTRUCK DISTRICT

Mayor Pro Tem Altamirano and I have been working on the idea of a Food Truck District for the past few months. I do want to note that recent State law has limited local control on restrictions on mobile vendors and have further reduced local regulation when the Governor signed SB972 this past October. You can learn more here:

https://www.abc10.com/.../103-4018fd25-891e-44d8-8809...

Nonetheless, we want to incentivize safe mobile vending. I also want to point out that we currently have over 60 permitted mobile vendors in the City. With that, we would like to create a safe space and a one stop shop for our residents to go to be able to patronize these mobile businesses outside of residential areas and following all health and safety protocols whilst enjoying some good food without the worry of traffic incidents, improper food handling, lack of access to restrooms, and more.

What are your thoughts on this idea and where would you create this district? Email me at cbarajas@jurupavalley.org with your thoughts.

INTERAGENCY COORDINATING COUNCIL

As you may already know, there is a County Project underway in the Santa Ana River. This project is improving/repairing the levee system and more. You can learn more about it here:

https://rcflood.org/Santa-Ana-River-Basin-Riverside...

An unintended, although anticipated, consequence is the influx of those living in the Santa Ana River into both Jurupa Valley and Riverside. We are working with Path of Life, Sheriff's office, City Staff, and more to address the influx. More to come on that in the coming weeks. We are also working with a County wide coalition and can share there is state funding coming to help. You can learn more here:

Please report any encampments, illegal dumping, graffiti, and more via the My Jurupa Valley app

Email any questions to cbarajas@jurupavalley.org

MADONE COLLECTION

We approved the Madone community on the corner of Camino Real and Jurupa. This will consist of 35 single family homes. They will by on compliance with the Traditional Family Guidelines I championed as well as our Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. Only 25% can be two story, and the homes must be in proportion to lot size. In addition, improvements will be made to Camino Real such as sidewalks, turn lane cutouts and more. There will also be a Capital Improvements project added for future widening of the bridge.

SHOPS AT JURUPA VALLEY

Here is the latest update with additional tenants and their locations that we can share for the Shops at Jurupa Valley..... many more to come.

infrastructure

The current Council, as recently shared, has made the largest investment in infrastructure allocating over $20 million of our ARPA funds to our roads!

Council Meeting Highlight: During the most recent meeting, the Jurupa Valley city council approved a construction agreement of over $2 Million to be used for citywide pavement rehabilitation.

The project consists of grinding and overlaying streets, reconstruction of curbs and gutters, sidewalks, driveway approaches, as well as paving with rubberized asphalt pavement and adjusting the manholes and water valves to grade and striping.

The project locations are Limonite from Felspar Street to Pedley Road, Jurupa road from Agate Street to Galena Street, Rubidoux from Highway 60 to 29th Street and Agate Street from Jurupa Road to Mission Boulevard.

This funding is in addition to the approximately $20 Million that city council has already allocated to street improvements through ARPA

- Jurupa Rd from Agate to Galena

Mission Bridge Replacement

The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Mission Boulevard Bridge over the Santa Ana River. The proposed project will accommodate two 12-foot lanes, two 14-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a 4-foot median. A 12- foot multipurpose trail with barrier separation from vehicular traffic will be located along the south side of the bridge in lieu of standard sidewalks on each side.

The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,100 feet long. The replacement bridge profile will be raised slightly to accommodate current standards for the roadway design. At mid-span, the profile will be approximately 4 to 6 feet higher than the existing bridge. Learn more about the project.

Market Bridge Replacement

The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Market Street Bridge over the Santa Ana River. A new 4-lane bridge will be provided to enhance public safety and traffic circulation in the area. The work will include reconstructing approach roadways, providing necessary channel improvements, and a multi-purpose trail connecting to the existing and proposed regional trails. The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,200 feet long. Learn more about the project.

Visit the link above for a full list of projects. I've asked staff to work on creating a more user friendly map by introducing interactivity through a GIS map instead of a flat file. More to come.

My family and I had a great time at @jusdstone Fall Fest! Both my daughters performed as did all their classmates. Always great to see our residents gather and build community. Thank you to school staff and principal for all the work to make the event a success! #jurupavalley

Congratulations to our newest small business @pizzaplugg951 on their Grand Opening! Small business is the backbone of a thriving City. Fun fact, City of Jurupa Valley has over 300 registered businesses. It was amazing to see how many residents were in attendance and the line to order was out the door! I wish Pizza Plug the best and can also share that after speaking with the shopping center's owner, it looks like all buildings are now leased and we should be seeing tenants either opening or beginning construction soon! #jurupavalley #economicdevelopment

Thank you to the community for inviting me to their Diwali Festival at the Skyview Event Center! Great to see so many residents from various communities gather and celebrate together. To those who celebrate, Happy Diwali. #jurupavalley #happydiwali

We had an amazing turnout with thousands in attendance for our first City of Jurupa Valley Veterans Day Parade! Thank you to Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District for the partnership and all the work that made the parade such a success! Thanks to Flabob Airport for the flyovers. Most importantly, thank you to all our Veterans for their service to our great Country!

The day is not done, head on over to Flabob Airport for the Veterans Festival with kids zone, food trucks, plane rides, and much more!

Flabob Airport Veterans Festival was incredible. With thousands in attendance, it was great to see families enjoying live music, skydivers, classic cars, food trucks, and much more all while recognizing and honoring our Veterans! Thank you to Flabob staff and all the volunteers for an extremely successful event. #jurupavalley

Thank you to the #SikhCommunity for everything they do for our Community and for inviting me and my family to their Parade and Festival! The Sikh Temple is always open to everyone whether you practice Sikhism or otherwise. It's worth a visit if you've never been. #jurupavalley #sikhtemple
