COMMUNITY development
Had the opportunity to tour the Vernola Market Place Apartments on Pats Ranch Road. The community is comprised of various amenities including pools, dog park, open space, communal BBQ areas, outdoor kitchens, tot lots, and much more. The community will start pre-leasing in November at which point lease rates will be made public. #jurupavalley #housing #community
I was excited to share with the amazing team at Flabob Airport that the City Council will be voting on initiating the process to form an airport specific plan. This will help preserve the airport and ancillary uses, such as the educational programs and liquid fuel rocket curriculum, for generations to come. We also discussed looking holistically at land use within the airport sphere of influence to better plan for the future and understand how current and future state mandates may play a role.
From there, I met with Supervisor Karen Spiegel and her staff. We discussed various items where we have worked together these past few years to provide vital resources to the residents of Jurupa Valley. A great example is the transfer of the Eddie Dee Smith Senior Center to the City. Under the management of JARPD, the center is once again thriving with activities for our seniors. We did discuss the Mary Tyo equestrian center and the trails along Bain. Both agencies will be working to identify how best to get those public benefits back in optimal conditions for our residents to be better able to utilize them.
Many more opportunities were discussed and will be sharing as we move forward.
Met with Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District Director Edgar Castelan today. We discussed various projects currently in planning and how #JARPD and the City of Jurupa Valley can work together to expand access to open spaces such as parks for current and future residents.
He also chipped in to help paint our fields for this weekend's Jurupa AYSO Region 462 games! #jurupavalley #ayso462 #jurupaayso462 #youthsports #jarpd1984
As we continue to grow as a city, and a region, we need to ensure we also provide adequate educational and upward mobility opportunities for our current and future residents. I am a strong proponent of Career and Technical Education (CTE). Riverside Community College District, Inland Empire Labor Council, Jurupa Unified School District, Congressman Mark Takano, City of Jurupa Valley, and many more are working together on potential opportunities that would bring those resources to #JurupaValley. #careerandtechnicaleducation #education #educationalopportunities
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Applicant (“Applicant” or “I.H.C. JURUPA, LLC”) submitted an application for Change of Zone No. 20002, Tentative Tract Map No. 37714 and Variance No. 21002 for the “Appaloosa Springs” (herein referred to as “Project”) residential subdivision of 67.67 combined acres into 254 single family residential lots on 25.59 acres, 14.34 acres of park space, 10.75 acres of preserved open space, 1.70 acres of open space/landscaping, 1.83 acres for a water quality basin and 13.46 acres of public roads. The residential lots range from 3,610 to 8,281 square feet and average 4,398 square feet. Table 1 outlines information on the subject site. The Applicant intends to record the map and sell the entitled project to DR Horton, homebuilder, for future development.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located between Pedley Road and Clay Street, immediately south of the De Anza Marketplace Shopping Center. The property is bounded by the Union Pacific Railroad on the south and industrial land uses beyond the railroad tracks to the south. Surrounding land uses include the Riverside Medical Clinic to the northeast, the Pacifica Senior Living housing complex, vacant land and a fast food restaurant to the east of Clay Street. There is an existing riparian habitat within the western and northern property boundary, and on the west side of Pedley Road is a mixture of residential and light industrial land uses. Please reference Exhibit 1, site location map.
community SERVICE
For the People Task Force has done an outstanding job on providing resources such as food, daily essentials such as sanitizer and cleaning supplies, and much more throughout the Inland Empire. We had a great discussion on how to expand resources and reduce food insecurity in the City of Jurupa Valley.
We approved an agreement with the United Sikh Mission, a non-profit, to operate a food bank and pantry located at 5626 Mission Blvd.
infrastructure
I had the pleasure of participating in a collaborative discussion on diversifying and building reliability into our regional water systems between WMWD, RCSD, JCSD, and more. As we continue to grow as a city, we need to ensure we have the resources we need to serve our current and future residents.

Thanks to all the organizations such as the Tesla Owners of Riverside County and more for today's EV event! I would also like to thank Tesla for attending and offering test drives for our residents! As we continue to move towards sustainable energy sources and alternative fuel vehicles, electrification is at the forefront and offering opportunities for our residents to see and touch an electric vehicle is of great value. Added bonus was to see a Corvair converted to electric! #jurupavalley #electricvehicle #tesla #teslamodel3
Had a great evening at the 22nd Annual Foodfest put on by the Jurupa District Lions Club #2659 and the Jurupa Valley Rotary.
