RIO VISTA (IETTC)
We visited the the site of the proposed Inland Empire Technical Trade Center with Congressman Mark Takano, JUSD Superintendent Dr. Hansen, RCCD Chancellor Dr. Isaac, and more to provide updates on where we are and where we're going to bring this regional project to fruition! This project will provide a pathway to the trades for all our communities.

PEDLEY CROSSINGS SHOPPING CENTER
City Council recently approved an extension for the Pedley Crossings Shopping Center! This project was approved years ago, but interest from retailers just wasn't significant. Given the progress in the City, interest from retailers is now significantly higher and some tenants are close to being confirmed! I do want to note, that because of the nature of this site with the hard rock, grading will take around 3 years. More to come as we make progress. #jurupavalley
SANTA ANA RIVER
As you may already know, there is a County Project underway in the Santa Ana River. This project is improving/repairing the levee system and more. You can learn more about it here:
https://rcflood.org/Santa-Ana-River-Basin-Riverside...
An unintended, although anticipated, consequence is the influx of those living in the Santa Ana River into both Jurupa Valley and Riverside. We are working with Path of Life, Sheriff's office, City Staff, and more to address the influx. More to come on that in the coming weeks. We are also working with a County wide coalition and can share there is state funding coming to help. You can learn more here:

Please report any encampments, illegal dumping, graffiti, and more via the My Jurupa Valley app

HOMELESS EFFORTS UDPATE
The City of Jurupa Valley continues to work with Path of Life Ministries (POLM) to build rapport and make measurable progress with the homeless community in Jurupa Valley. The POLM Stree Outreach team continues to submit referrals to POLM Employment Pipeline to connect homeless clients to employment opportunities in the City of Jurupa Valley.
The Outreach team was also able to connect several elderly participants to the Riverside Housing Authority to begin services.

SHOPS AT JURUPA VALLEY
Shops at Jurupa Valley UPDATE!! The Planning Commission approved a change to the Site Plan due to additional large tenants. The item now goes to the City Council. We'll be able to share the confirmed restaurants and retailers in the coming days. Stay tuned....
infrastructure
The current Council, as recently shared, has made the largest investment in infrastructure allocating over $20 million of our ARPA funds to our roads!

Council Meeting Highlight: During the most recent meeting, the Jurupa Valley city council approved a construction agreement of over $2 Million to be used for citywide pavement rehabilitation.
The project consists of grinding and overlaying streets, reconstruction of curbs and gutters, sidewalks, driveway approaches, as well as paving with rubberized asphalt pavement and adjusting the manholes and water valves to grade and striping.
The project locations are Limonite from Felspar Street to Pedley Road, Jurupa road from Agate Street to Galena Street, Rubidoux from Highway 60 to 29th Street and Agate Street from Jurupa Road to Mission Boulevard.
This funding is in addition to the approximately $20 Million that city council has already allocated to street improvements through ARPA

I had the opportunity, alongside Mayors from San Bernardino and Riverside counties, to meet with the Governors office, more specifically, the new California Infrastructure Advisor, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
An item of discussion was housing. I shared that the State should be including funding and incentizing cities who meet state housing mandates and have certified housing elements.
We also discussed the need for workforce development. I shared information about the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center planned for Jurupa Valley that will be a path to lift our communities out of poverty and into skilled and well paying jobs.
Overall a productive conversation and look forward to the next meeting and securing funding for not only Jurupa Valley, but the region!
Mission Bridge Replacement
The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Mission Boulevard Bridge over the Santa Ana River. The proposed project will accommodate two 12-foot lanes, two 14-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a 4-foot median. A 12- foot multipurpose trail with barrier separation from vehicular traffic will be located along the south side of the bridge in lieu of standard sidewalks on each side.
The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,100 feet long. The replacement bridge profile will be raised slightly to accommodate current standards for the roadway design. At mid-span, the profile will be approximately 4 to 6 feet higher than the existing bridge. Learn more about the project.
Market Bridge Replacement
The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Market Street Bridge over the Santa Ana River. A new 4-lane bridge will be provided to enhance public safety and traffic circulation in the area. The work will include reconstructing approach roadways, providing necessary channel improvements, and a multi-purpose trail connecting to the existing and proposed regional trails. The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,200 feet long. Learn more about the project.
Visit the link above for a full list of projects. I've asked staff to work on creating a more user friendly map by introducing interactivity through a GIS map instead of a flat file. More to come.

It was my absolute pleasure to meet with our residents at the Eddie Dee Smith Senior Center. The City of Jurupa Valley owns the facility and partners with our great friends at Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District for its operations. Debbie, with JARPD, does a phenomenal job of providing the programs and services our seniors need and deserve!
You can learn more about programs and more through the Senior Center newsletters here:

Thank you to Pedley Elementary School 3rd Grade classes for joining us for our City of Jurupa Valley Local Government Day! We went over what local governance is and how it works and even held a mock City Council meeting where students served as Mayor and Council and discussed a funding topic with public comment.
Students also got to talk with our Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station Deputies including one of the K9's! CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department was able to bring an engine and talked with students on fire safety and more.
Thank you to Jurupa Unified School District and City Staff for all the work to make this event a reality!
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting multiple classrooms at both Stone Ave and Rustic Lane for Career Day. I shared about my career, yes I have a day job, which is a software engineer. I brought my Raspberry Pi and had the students look at all the parts and potential projects like coding, robotics, and more.
My family and I also had the pleasure of attending the Pedley Elementary Trunk or Treat, Kamp Kaos (Round 2), and the Trunk or Treat at La Petite Academy. A great Friday evening in Jurupa Valley!
