LIMONITE SHOPPING CENTER
As many of you have already noticed, construction at the old Kmart is getting ready to start. As previously shared, the current tenants that have been confirmed by the property owner are Sprouts and Harbor Freight with First Bank moving over from their current location. You can see the site map on the attached image. The building will still have 2 additional spaces that are actively being marketed for additional tenants.

RUBIDOUX PARK
I want to commend the JARPD Board of Directors and staff on their continued efforts to bring parks to park poor areas! Last night, at their board meeting, they approved the purchase of land for a future park in #Rubidoux on 37th St. South of Wallace. Looking forward to having a neighborhood park for the residents of the community of Rubidoux to enjoy!
In their analysis, JARPD also identified the communities of Indian Hills and Jurupa Hills, among others, as park poor areas. These two communities are in #JVDistrict5 and I look forward to working with JARPD in any capacity to bring forward any feasible option to bring parks to our communities! Keep up the great work JARPD Directors and staff!
I-REN
Great meeting today with our colleagues from San Bernardino and Coachella to continue our work on the I-REN. Looking forward to program implementation, strategic planning, and future programs that will directly benefit our residents.

infrastructure
The current Council, as recently shared, has made the largest investment in infrastructure allocating over $20 million of our ARPA funds to our roads!

The recent storms have brought much needed rain to our State; however, the amount of rain in such a small amount of time resulted in widespread flooding across our City and State. While the storms have subsided, there are more expected in a could of weeks.
As a reminder, you can get sandbags at most of our Fire Ststions. You do have to fill them up yourself, but they are at no cost to you. In addition, I've shared in the past that the City continues to look at flood mitigation in all our communities such as Rubidoux, Indian Hills, Jurupa Hills, Glen Avon, Mira Loma, and more. Many of our recent infrastructure improvements also had flood mitigation incorporated into them. We also work closely with our partners at Riverside County Flood Control. Each organization plays a vital role in overall flood control. Through that partnership there have been projects completed and many more in the pipeline for some time. You can view a current list of upcoming projects here: https://content.rcflood.org/CIP/

Mission Bridge Replacement
The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Mission Boulevard Bridge over the Santa Ana River. The proposed project will accommodate two 12-foot lanes, two 14-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a 4-foot median. A 12- foot multipurpose trail with barrier separation from vehicular traffic will be located along the south side of the bridge in lieu of standard sidewalks on each side.
The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,100 feet long. The replacement bridge profile will be raised slightly to accommodate current standards for the roadway design. At mid-span, the profile will be approximately 4 to 6 feet higher than the existing bridge. Learn more about the project.
Market Bridge Replacement
The County of Riverside, in cooperation with the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley, proposes to replace the existing Market Street Bridge over the Santa Ana River. A new 4-lane bridge will be provided to enhance public safety and traffic circulation in the area. The work will include reconstructing approach roadways, providing necessary channel improvements, and a multi-purpose trail connecting to the existing and proposed regional trails. The new bridge will be approximately 88 feet wide and 1,200 feet long. Learn more about the project.
Visit the link above for a full list of projects. I've asked staff to work on creating a more user friendly map by introducing interactivity through a GIS map instead of a flat file. More to come.

Congratulations to Patriot High School Wrestler Achilles Violette on his well earned Riverside County Wrestling Championship! The Violette family has been a tremendous asset to our community from participating in many of our youth leagues over the years to sponsoring and/or feeding teams from Jurupa AYSO, JVLL, Jurupa Steelers, Patriot HS wrestling team, and much more. I had the opportunity, as part of our Legislative Committee, to attend Contract Cities Legislative Tour in Sacramento. We heard from multiple State Legislators on public safety, housing, infrastructure, and more on potential bills that may be presented in the next session. Here are some bullet points:
- I was appointed to the Legislative Committee for @contractcities, I want to thank my colleagues and look forward to the work ahead.
- We spoke with many legislators on our truck camera proposed legislation to gain support and will be aiding in crafting the bill.
- We advocated for new legislation to increase oversight for DTSC, the agency that brought hazardous materials to Stringfellow.
- We advocated for criminal justice reform. Specifically changes to any process or law that allowed Deputy Cordero's murderer to bond out given his lengthy violent criminal past.
- The Assembly adjourned their meeting this past Monday in honor of Deputy Cordero.
As a general note for all our residents, the State is going to continue to erode local control and introduce new legislation that would allow more dense housing by right. Some examples that I've shared about recently and will be going into effect are AB2011 and SB6. Be sure to write our State Representatives as these types of bills are being introduced to voice your opposition or support.
As always, any questions please email me at cbarajas@jurupavalley.org
I had the absolute pleasure of serving as a judge for Jurupa Unified School District 34th Annual Science and Engineering Fair!
Students from multiple Middle Schools and High Schools presented their projects and inventions to several judges.
As a software engineer, yes I have a regular job, it was exciting to see so many projects incorporating technology available at our JUSD Schools like 3D Printing, woodworking, plasma cutters, robotics, and more.
For those interested, the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony tonight at 6:00 pm in the JUSD Board Room.

Have you visited the adventure garden at the Louis Robidoux Library? It's a wonderful community resource where you can walk and learn at your leisure. This morning, my daughter and I joined Healthy Jurupa Valley, @wearereachout, and community volunteers to help cleanup and do some maintenance at the site. As this is a community resource maintained by the community, please pay it a visit and hope to see you at the next cleanup! #jurupavalley #jurupahills #indianhills #rubidoux #pedleyhills
My daughter and I joined many community members and leaders such as RCSD Directors Hank Trueba and Bernard Murphy, Councilwoman Altamirano, and Josie Gaytan with Reach Out at the Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove community meeting to discuss and provide input for the site's proposed Master Plan. I am excited to see this beautiful resource in #JVDistrict5 come back to life with the input of our community! I'm looking forward to continued collaboration between all agencies involved for the full rehabilitation of valuable public resource. #jurupavalley #jurupahills #indianhills #rubidoux #pedleyhills
